This school has been opened with the vision to foster a student’s natural speaking ability. Through lessons targeting communication skills and breathing techniques, confidence and articulation blossoms. Reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give to children—it sparks imagination, builds language skills, and helps them explore the world beyond their everyday.

To help encourage a love for books, my amazing Kindy class of 5 created their very own bookmarks last week! Each one is a little piece of their personality and creativity, and they couldn’t wait to use them in their favorite stories. Welcome back to 2025!

Classes resume 10th of February 2025 and I couldn’t be more excited. We are back to our original studio in Wentworthville and with a fresh new start. This year is filled with Eisteddfod’s, new materials, theory & practical exams. Students will be motivated with a whole new dynamic in classes and fun games I’ll be introducing.

We had a great time at our Christmas Showcase this year. Making things bigger and better than ever! I loved all the performances and the feedback from parents were that they enjoyed all the unique talents of the kids.

CONGRATULATIONS 🤩

A big well done to all my senior students who conquered their theory examination this year and whipped up all their work in time for the practical exams. It’s prepared early which allowed students to master the skills of phonetics and analytic knowledge for pieces. Hopefully this year helped them realised the dos and don’t of this process and aim higher for 2025!

I am tremendously proud of how well all my students went! This year was a challenge, exploring new emotions and motivations from different students and a great realisation for others. It was encouraging to see all my new students working hard and giving it a go. One of my students came out of the exam say “it’s wasn’t as bad as I thought… phew!”

Use these experiences to grow your skill set. Examiner feedback is so valuable and helps not just the students but myself guide the students learning in the new year.

GRATEFUL 💫

This achievement was massive. I was nominated by a dear friend @veethava and founder of @brownbossbabesau @theeventshouse_ for the Young Entrepreneur Award for 2024 under the Australian Tamil Chamber of Commerce. Out of 10 nominations myself and two others became finalist by the panel of judges. Although I did not win, becoming a finalist is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to all the support by my family, students and parents involved.

Speech and Drama has always been a passion of mine but teaching as a whole was the drive for me. After being guided by my mentor @meggle.anne I was able to take the first step in achieving that goal and here we are now.

Thank you to the President and committee at ATCC for this opportunity and such a fun packed and exciting night!

Two Wholesome Sundays ✏️

Thank you to my 23 senior students this year preparing to sit their theory exams in September 🧡

Exam Date: 9am - 7th September 2024.

It was so beautiful to see all the kids adjust to my tiny home and be so engaged for the information overload that was given to them in the 2 hours of a Sunday morning. Theory exams are not an easy task. It requires a lot of crucial understanding which allows them to effectively perform their practical pieces and understand the art of drama or the various aspects of it. These holidays will be the time, my seniors sit down and build their notes, work on understanding and analysing their pieces and building memory.

I can’t wait to see them proposer in this exam!

Ever get sick of repeating the same feedback each week and not getting that receptiveness from the kids?

In Term 1 I struggled to get through to some of my kids, especially the juniors when I asked them to project, or add some facial expression.

So I created a game! Each student gets up to perform their piece. All the other students watch and listen carefully (a great way to keep them all quiet and listening). Once the performer is done, they go up and write one positive comment and one constructive feedback for the presenter to work on.

This worked wonders because they thought about all the things they would need, to present the perfect piece and was concise of it when it came to their turn. ALSO hearing feedback from your mates is always harsher 😂
They all got quite competitive and took extra initiative to fix up their pieces using each other’s feedback.

IMEB Graduation 2024 👩🏽‍🎓

What a wonderful day celebrating all graduates for 2024! It was nice to see a few of the proud teachers commemorate the students hard work and see them go up on stage and receive their certification.

And big shout out to the directors of IMEB @merrylspeechndrama @brennan_cc for organising from top to bottom such a remarkably smooth and enjoyable day! We had over 40 graduates and a tremendous amount of family and friend who came along to support.

This is what the end of one chapter of your speech and drama journey looks like! It opens doors to so many great opportunities once you’ve completed your diploma and that’s why I do this day in and out! To give you all the platform to grow and use these skills for your betterment 🧡

It’s that time of year where I love buying little gifts for my kids to remember me our year together. Today will be my last day at Westmead Public School, as I embark on a new journey at Rousehill Primary School.

I’m excited to see what the school has to offer and the people I met and new skills I learn and develop. As this chapter closes I reflect on all those who helped me kick start this dream of a career and helped me get to permanency for 2025.

IMEB Practical Exams 2023 🥸

We have come to the end of what has been an extremely busy but heartwarming weekend. Days like the exam weekend brings upon mixed emotions. You start off the weekend with a lot of organisational stress, last minute request of pieces and the kids who feel extra nervous because time has come. But by the end of it, when you see the relief in a child’s face, and the sense of accomplishment when they hear their marks which all truly makes up for the work that goes into the lead up of these exams.

I am so proud of all my students this year. As a cohort they did extremely well and received a B credit or above. These are remarkable results, especially for students sitting an exam for ther first time. I could see an incredible improvement from last year to this year, with some students pushing themself up into A+ honour’s range.

Thank you to Merryl, Rachel and Brendan for examining this weekend. We appreciate the time and effort and more importantly your encouragement throughout these examinations.

Well done to you all. We all deserve a break and come back with the Christmas spirit in preparation for our annual Christmas party!

Theory Exams 2023 ✏️

Congratulations to all my senior students for successfully completing their theory examination for 2023. I am proud to say all the kids passed with flying colours and made themselves and I very proud.

For all the girls this year it was their first time sitting the exam and the boys had to face a more challenging paper. They conquered all challenges, pressure and remained resilient till the very end.

Oh, the places you’ll go! 🎈

Dr. Seuss is one of the best known authors for helping children to read through his stories. He was a storyteller in the grandest sense of the word. Not only did he tell fantastical tales of far-away places but he also gave us a unique visual language that carried his stories to new heights of artistic expression.

This book was gifted to me by a family so close to my heart during my graduation time. Reading through this short story inspired me to look further than today. One accomplishment is great, but just the beginning and that’s the mindset I’ll recharge to after every hurdle or milestone. The worlds our oyster and my beautiful uncle, aunty and cousins motivated me of that.

Read Dr Seuss’s quote and remind yourself that you are the reason you make your daily choices, walk your chosen path, and become the person your mind and heart desire you to be.

Allow it to guide your journey and write your story.

Practical Exams 2023 ✏️

Exams are just over a week away and the students are working hard to prepare to the best of their ability.

IMEB practical exams are compulsory to sit at the end of the year in order to progress to the next grade.

To all the parents remember, it is the student’s responsibility to memorise their pieces and dedicate enough time doing so. These exams enhance their memory power, perfection to performance and discipline for expression. They are all working extremely hard as we conduct mock exams in the two lessons leading up to the test.

Exams are held Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th of November this year.

Wednesday 11th of October 2023.

This day marked a huge milestone in my life👩🏽‍🎓
It reminded me of my Speech and Drama graduation when my mentor Merrly Lloyd called out my name from the stage and officiated my Diploma in Speech and Drama or my Year 12 graduation amongst some of my best friends still today. However my passion for speech and drama didn’t come first and in fact branched off something even bigger.

Becoming a teacher has been a childhood dream since the time I was asked what “I wanted to be when I grow up” in Kindergarten. No other profession drew me in like teaching did. I’ve always been a big giver to others and having the ability to give back to our community and blossom our future generation day in and day out was too good to be true. I faced my hurdles, tackled all challenges, even yearned for one day off to breathe. But not once did I ever doubt whether being a teacher was for me. This is who I was born to be and I’ll forever be the best version I can be.

I can’t wait to see where my teaching career takes me, in a schooling or speech and drama light. Primary school teacher by day and Speech and drama educator by night. Here’s to many years of cute little smiles, happy memories and countless proud moments.

Theory Exam's 2023.

Well done to all my senior students for sitting their Theory examinations as part of the IMEB syllabus this year. It was the first time for 80% of them and they worked extremely hard to give it their best shot. It's not an easy experience but they took it on with confidence.

IMEB THEORY EXAM ✏️

Theory exams are a compulsory examination sat by all students undertaking their Grade 6,7 or 8 levels in speech and drama.

Good luck to all my senior students sitting their first theory exam tomorrow. They’ve worked extremely hard and learnt so many new skills and ideologies behind Speech and Drama.

It wasn’t an easy journey. They faced challenges, confusion and fear of a big new exam. Learning phonetics for them felt like learning a new language but then realising how it’s the basics of our speaking language.

I’ve admired watching my kids march through these last few month and will be proud regardless of the results.

Term 1, 2024

Welcome back to a new year and a new location for my studio! We have moved from our Wentworthville location to Lalor Park and are excited to grow in our new space.

A new policy document has been sent out for all parents to carefully read and sign. This is to be returned by the 11th of Jan for me to organise the term ahead.

This term will include a lot of preparation for the Parramatta Eisteddfods. Parents will need to register their own children in the competition.

Set pieces will be provided to the kids when class commences.

Online Registration for the Parramatta Eisteddfod closes on Friday, 15th of March 2024.

Don't forget to bring all your class materials on the first day back.
